OK. I am realitivly new to DA. I don't know how this all works and where to post this. I am going to try here.

Every week I read at least 3 journals from artist who complain about their work being put on my space, flicker, etc. Now personally I could care less whether or not my art is used as you avi, or to decorate your page for personal use. To me it is an honor that you liked it enough to use it. Now where I do draw the line is stealing my art for your profit. Taking it and claiming it as yours and selling it. That is wrong.

I have a simple solution to the problem that DA could implement in the deviation submission page. Just as in the the enable download option. Have the option to disable right clicking on a picture and saving it! This way you have the right to CHOOSE whether or not you want your art to be saved on someones computer.

The average person who stumbles across your piece would know that if they could not save it, then they would need to ask your permission for use. Yes, there are ways around this. Those are the thieves, that would take your art and sell it! You would have more of a leg to stand on when hunting them down and going after them for copyright infringement. You would know for sure if they are just passing along and happy with your art and want to show it off. Or if they are malicious in their intent.

I am posting this because I think DA needs to make some changes in this area. I want them to know that people are supportive of this change.

Then when you complain about your art being stolen you have a RIGHT to do so.

If you agree please take the time to comment on this article. I would like for the admin. looking to the coding for this and take measures to secure your work!

Thank You! :)

Disabling right-click doesn't solve anything, a simple screen capture still can snag anything visible on your monitor.

Yes, it is simple enough to code.
But it is FAR more trouble, as you cannot then copy text or addresses, or anything else without having to use your keyboard.

There are numerous ways to protect your artwork. DA does not need to be "Big Brother" to protect you, it would just degrade their overall functionality to disable right-clicking. The professional websites recognize this, which is why you don't see right-click disabled on very many sites. It's a poor stop-gap solution that really doesn't do much.
